From Cowboy to Cook: The Life and Passion of Anders Treiberg
Anders Treiberg was born on the 7th of May 1955 in Finspång, Sweden. Anders did not care much about school; he liked working with his hands and started working after school when he was 12.
Anders attended technical college and quickly realized that this was not his calling. He then went to study at a farming college, and this was his calling, hands-on, and he graduated with pretty good marks.
In 1974, Anders worked on a dairy farm in New York State, USA. In 1976, he immigrated to Canada to become a cowboy. British Columbia, Canada, is now his home.
After arriving in Canada, Anders worked on farms, had his own ranch, worked for 10 years in the oilfield, and sold real estate for almost 20 years. During these 20 years, he met a fellow Realtor, Liz. They teamed up and quickly became one of the top-selling teams in Victoria, BC. Embracing technology, they have had one of Victoria’s top real estate websites for many years.
After selling real estate for many years, Anders retired in 2008. He now lives with his spouse, Libia, in Campbell River, BC. Together, they have five children and five grandchildren.
Where do the books fit into all this?
Cooking has been a big part of my life. I started early, around age 13, when we had to take home economics in school. I just loved it. That is how my first book, Tinfoil Cooking, came about.
My mom has always been an exceptional cook, and I learned much from her. My cooking style is European-influenced, with a good mix of North American and a bit of everything else around the world.
I am not a chef and do not have any culinary degrees. The only experience I have is the School of Life. Simply, I just love to cook.
When I travel, I always seek out the local foods in the different areas and countries I visit. It gives me an excellent insight into how people live and eat.
I write books when I am not cooking or hanging out behind the BBQ. I am getting close to publishing my second book. My first book, Tinfoil Cooking, is an Amazon Best Seller and has been published as an e-book and in paperback format.
